Some moments mark major milestones. Others are wonderfully ordinary. Together, they tell the story of creating our home on the Olympic Peninsula.

The Beginning | April–May 2026

Every journey has a moment when an idea becomes something real.

We first toured the Hunt Road property in late April 2026. What began as another property viewing quickly felt different. As we stood overlooking the Elwha River Valley, taking in the mountain views and the quiet beauty of the surrounding forest, we could immediately picture what life here might become.

The property offered something difficult to describe but easy to recognize: a sense of possibility. The neighborhood was peaceful and private, the setting felt connected to nature, and every direction seemed to reveal another reason to pause and take it all in.

Over the following weeks, we returned often, walking the property, imagining homesites, and beginning to dream about what we could create here.

On May 12, 2026, we officially closed on the property and became its stewards. After years of planning and dreaming about building a home on the Olympic Peninsula, Hunt Road Home had found its place.

The journey had begun.

Why We Chose Hunt Road | May 2026

Sometimes a property checks all the boxes. Sometimes it simply feels right. Hunt Road was both.

Finding the right property took patience. We wanted privacy without isolation, beautiful views without sacrificing practicality, and a location that felt connected to everything we love about the Olympic Peninsula. What drew us to Hunt Road wasn't any single feature; it was the combination of many things. The stunning views across the Elwha River Valley. The backdrop of the Olympic Mountains. The occasional glimpse of the Strait of Juan de Fuca shimmering in the distance. The quiet roads, the surrounding forest, and the feeling of being tucked away while still remaining close to Port Angeles.

Equally important was the property's proximity to the people who helped us fall in love with the Peninsula. Over the years, their friendship, guidance, and example have shaped our vision for what life here could be. Every time we pass through their gate and drive down the lane leading to their property, there's a sense of arrival that's difficult to describe: a quiet reminder of why we're here and what drew us back. Knowing that Hunt Road Home would be nearby made the property feel even more like... home. 

The property also offered a rare opportunity to begin building sooner than expected, with infrastructure in place. But more than anything, the property felt like a place where we wanted to spend time. Every visit reinforced the same feeling: this was where the next chapter should begin. Long before a floor plan existed, we knew this was home. 

The First Project: Building the Shed | Summer 2026

Every home begins with a first project.

Before home plans, permits, foundations, and framing, there was a simple goal: to create a level, functional space for storage.

The shed became our first opportunity to work on the property as owners. It gave us a chance to understand the site, experiment with grading and materials, and begin making tangible improvements to the land.

What may seem like a small project today will likely become one of our favorite memories. It marks the moment when the property stopped being an idea and started becoming our project.

The first structure on Hunt Road Home wasn't a house; it was a glimpse into the future.
